What is the excretory system?
The excretory system is the system in an organism's body that allows it to eliminate the wastes produced by homeostasis. Excretory systems regulate the chemical composition of body fluids by removing metabolic wastes and retaining the proper amounts of water, salt, and nutrients. The functions of the excretory system include collecting water and filtering body fluids, removing and concentrating waste products from body fluids and returning other substances to body fluids as necessary for homeostasis, and eliminating excretory products from the body.
